One of our clients is actively seeking PRN staff to help with the homeless population on cold nights below freezing. Shifts will vary depending on weather.
In collaboration with the Nashville community, The Office of Homeless Services will launch and operate a Cold Weather Overflow Shelter to support individuals and families experiencing homelessness during severe winter conditions. This shelter will provide emergency indoor accommodation from November 1 through March 31, with potential additional shifts available before and after the season to assist with setup and wrap‑up operations.
Shift Times (when shelter is open):
- 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM
- 4:00 AM – 9:00 AM
- Assist and monitor all shelter attendees.
- Maintain shelter count of all guests with routine room checks.
- Brief the next shift before leaving the shelter.
- Report any incidents or issues to the OHS Emergency Services Manager.
- Receive and prepare food for meals, if required.
- Ensure the shelter schedule and rules are adhered to by guests.
- Clean up before the next shift report.
- Work with the OHS shelter manager to prepare the shelter for opening (first shift) and closing (last shift).
- Demonstrate schedule flexibility and respond to weekly forecasted openings with a minimum of 24‑hour notice.
- Ability to pass a Tennessee statewide and nationwide criminal background check.
- Establish a relationship with one of the nation's largest referral agencies for behavioral health.
