Technical Manager, Software Engineering

Role Overview

You will drive the full lifecycle development of critical products, including architecture, development, and ownership of our web‑based data analytics applications. This includes collaborating with other technical leadership, product owners and developers while providing independence and ownership of your work. As a senior member of the group, you will shape the technical strategy and architecture of our platform.

Location:

Nashville, TN – 4 days onsite, 1 day remote (Friday).

Responsibilities
  • Lead a cross‑functional product development team to deliver amazing products to customers, acting as a player/coach.
  • Architect, build, test, and deploy scalable, reusable, and maintainable applications that handle large amounts of data.
  • Take full ownership of your work, from development and testing to deployment and production support.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, product owners, designers, and leadership.
  • Serve as a trusted team member in technical architecture, design, and code.
  • Advocate for technical and non‑technical evolution and improvement within teams, including new tech, tools, and best practices.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the CoStar business.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college.
  • 8+ years of professional software development experience.
  • 5+ years building large distributed, API‑driven systems.
  • 3+ years leading agile teams.
  • Full‑stack experience with strong expertise in front‑end technologies (JavaScript, React, Graph

    QL).
  • Experience leading technical teams, managing complex requirements, and delivering timely solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate at appropriate levels to direct reports, peers, and senior management.
  • Excellent team building, negotiation and consensus building abilities.
  • Ability to motivate and build high‑performance software development teams.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
  • Real‑world experience designing and implementing complex application architectures on Amazon Web Services.
  • Expertise configuring, maintaining, and optimizing Webpack and/or Lerna monorepo configurations.
  • Expertise building common/shared JavaScript module packages.
  • Experience with Docker and container orchestration.
  • Commercial Real Estate (CRE) knowledge is a bonus.
