Position Summary:

The Software Development Engineer in Test I is responsible for supporting quality and reliability of our products through automation, tools and software optimizing test processes and driving efficiencies for all aspects of functional and non-functional quality activities. This position assists in developing, maintaining and executing automated testing frameworks and conducts comprehensive testing activities. This role is a hybrid skillset, bridging the gap between software development and testing, contributing to the development process by ensuring that software is thoroughly tested, reliable, and meets the required quality standards.

In addition to the responsibilities below, the ideal candidate will consistently strive to learn emerging technologies, prioritize continuous professional development, and actively mentor team members.

Automation Development:
Build and maintain automation scripts to support HCA applications and processes, driving efficiency and consistency in testing.

The ideal candidate possesses advanced technical skills, a strong grasp of business concepts, and proven experience in agile methodologies. This position plays a critical role in delivering high-quality solutions that support HR integration initiatives across healthcare systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in maintaining automated test suites by writing or modifying basic code and scripts whenever possible to maximize test coverage and expedite delivery.
  • Utilize test frameworks and tools that facilitate automated testing across different layers within application(s) for use with DB, API, UI, Integration, etc.
  • Integrate automated tests into existing CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and delivery of software updates.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to integrate testing into the development process.
  • Evaluate test results to identify issues and improvement opportunities, ensuring build stability before deployment.
  • Conduct manual tests to identify issues that automated tests might miss.
  • Create and maintain documentation related to test plans, manual and automated test cases, issues, test results and outcomes.
  • Perform and document both functional and non-functional testing to ensure comprehensive software validation and enforcing testing best practices.
  • Pursue and obtain relevant training and certifications as they arise to support role and responsibilities.
  • Responsibilities may include additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Hybrid schedule in Nashville, TN
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Foundational experience in at least one programming language such as C#, Java, Python, etc. with an understanding of how code should be written and organized.
  • Working knowledge of functional testing and QA automation tools and software such as Ui Path, Selenium Web Driver, TestNG, etc.
  • Entry-level experience in performance testing, tools, and software.
  • Competent understanding of querying databases and verifying data integrity.
  • Intermediate understanding of Web Element Locator, Page Object Model, Interactions and Bi-directional.
  • Foundational experience with growing expertise in CI/CD automation pipelines and Git.
  • Ability to identify testing needs and test features based on complex business logic and the impacts to both downstream and upstream processes.
  • Possesses the ability to communicate both in writing and verbally with clarity and conciseness and demonstrates active listening for collaborating with product stakeholders and assisting team members.
  • Ability to adapt to new tools, technologies, and methodologies.
  • Commitment to continuous development learning emerging technologies and frameworks.
