Senior Software Engineer – Application Modernization
Hybrid Schedule
Onsite 2-3 days a week
We’re supporting a technology transformation initiative for an organization moving a long-standing desktop-based transactional platform into a scalable, cloud-native environment. This role is hands‑on and strategic, contributing to both development and architectural evolution.
What You’ll Be Doing- Modernizing a legacy Windows-based system into distributed, service‑oriented applications
- Building backend services using modern .NET technologies and designing RESTful APIs
- Developing dynamic, enterprise‑grade web applications using React and Type Script
- Integrating frontend applications with backend services and ensuring clean API contracts
- Deploying and managing applications within Microsoft Azure
- Containerizing applications and supporting orchestration workflows
- Creating and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines
- Supporting database redesign, optimization, and data migration efforts
- Participating in architectural planning and long‑term technical strategy
- Collaborating with business stakeholders to translate functional requirements into scalable solutions
- Mentoring engineers and contributing to code quality through reviews and best practices
- Frontend: React (18+), Type Script
- Dev Ops & Automation: Git Hub Actions or similar CI/CD tools; infrastructure automation (Terraform or ARM templates)
- Databases: SQL Server / Azure SQL; exposure to No
SQL platforms (e.g., Cosmos‑style systems) - Monitoring & Logging: Cloud‑native monitoring and telemetry solutions
- Testing: Unit and frontend testing frameworks (xUnit, Jest, Cypress or similar)
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Insurance/Health industry experience, particularly in life insurance or underwriting systems Preferred.
- Extensive experience building and maintaining full‑stack applications
- Strong understanding of cloud‑based system design and distributed architectures
- Experience migrating or refactoring legacy applications
- Solid database design and performance tuning knowledge
- Ability to operate independently while contributing to collaborative technical discussions
- Strong communication skills with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or comparable professional experience
