Position Information

Position Overview

This is a management and technical position. In addition to management responsibilities, a Director of Development will serve as the technical lead of the Virsys
12 (V12) product development team. The V12 product suite is a healthcare provider data management platform built on Salesforce and AWS, providing tools for managing provider networks, credentialing workflows, and provider data quality for health plans, health systems, and managed care organizations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to all Health Stream security policies, procedures, and assigned training.
  • Provide technical leadership and consensus building for software development teams.
  • Lead technical design process for Health Stream applications and enhancements.
  • Coordinate technical projects with other technical disciplines within Health Stream IT.
  • Ensure teams adhere to Health Stream standards, processes, and best practices for software development, and support definition and update of department policies.
  • Oversee recruiting and hiring of software developers, mentor and retain junior managers and developers.
  • Support organizational budgetary and operational concerns.
  • Oversee and support delivery and deployment of software releases to pre‑production and production.
  • Coordinate rapid response and resolution for high‑priority application defects.
  • Lead investigation, diagnosis, and mitigation of application failures.
  • Work with business stakeholders to refine requirements; communicate technical design details and provide guidance and complexity estimates.
  • Collaborate with QA and architects on testing strategy and emerging technologies.
  • Continuously consult and collaborate with developers and QA on design practices and emerging tech.
Qualifications

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of experience in software development.
  • At least 4 years of of development teams.
  • Successful management of direct reports and contract/offshore resources.
  • Experience with agile development; SCRUM preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science preferred; advanced certification considered.
  • Deep knowledge of Dev Sec Ops  and CI/CD practices.
  • Experience with Salesforce platform development, database design, and complex data models;
    Salesforce certification preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare technology; familiarity with FHIR, HL7, HIPAA preferred.
  • Experience implementing integrations with third‑party systems and external applications.

Technical Skills

  • Salesforce platform development:
    Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flows, SOQL, Health Cloud, App Exchange managed package lifecycle, SFDX CLI.
  • Java/Spring Framework/Hibernate ORM.
  • Web technologies: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript.
  • SQL:
    Postgre

    SQL, SQL Server.
  • AWS cloud services: ECS/Fargate, RDS, networking.
  • Integration technologies: REST, JSON, XML, OAuth 2.0, FHIR R4/R5, HL7.
  • Development practices: SOLID, IoC, refactoring, OOP patterns.
  • Software architecture: modeling, documentation, distributed systems patterns.
  • Healthcare data standards and compliance (HIPAA, CAQH, NPPES, Provider Trust).
  • Leadership and communication competencies: mentoring, conflict resolution, strategic communication, collaboration, and decision‑making.
Compensation

The salary range for this position is $131,182 – $185,000. Compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s level of experience and qualifications.
