As a Manager, Engineering, you will lead a team responsible for delivering reliable, secure, and scalable technology solutions that support Starbucks engineering teams. You will drive operational excellence, enable developer productivity, and ensure high‑performing systems and infrastructure that power partner and customer experiences.

Responsibilities
  • Lead engineering operations and reliability – Oversee system configuration, monitoring, maintenance, and support to ensure stability and performance
  • Enable development teams – Partner closely with engineers to resolve issues, improve workflows, and support build and release processes
  • Drive operational excellence – Lead Incident, Change, Release, and Problem Management practices while implementing monitoring and alerting solutions
  • Ensure secure and compliant systems – Deliver solutions aligned with security, architecture, and regulatory standards (e.g., PCI, SOX)
  • Automate and scale – Identify opportunities to automate processes and improve efficiency, scalability, and reliability
  • Lead and develop a high‑performing team – Coach and manage engineers, driving engagement, growth, and strong team performance
  • Collaborate across teams and vendors – Build strong cross‑functional partnerships and manage external partners to achieve business outcomes
Qualifications
  • 8–10 years of experience in software development, systems engineering, or infrastructure operations
  • 5+ years managing complex systems or application development projects
  • 3–5 years leading or managing technical teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience with cloud or highly virtualized environments
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, load balancing, firewalls, proxies)
  • Experience with scripting or programming languages such as Python, Java, or Go
  • Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and deliver in a fast‑paced environment
