Cox Fleet is currently hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II.
Responsibilities- Perform licensed DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance inspections, light and follow-up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned in a mobile/field environment.
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various types of truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, engine electronics, and driveline components.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment including electrical, brakes, cooling systems, air conditioning, engine electronics, and powertrain components.
- Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments.
- Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
- Identify problems, evaluate information, and generate alternatives with sound judgments.
- Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the company-issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.
- Maintain and operate the company-issued service vehicle, and conduct safety checks and pre-/post-trip inspections.
- Work with clients to assess needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, and meet expectations.
- Manage concurrent tasks with effective prioritization and time management.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
- Document work according to company standards and upload photos of work performed, parts used, and findings on RO using a company-issued iOS device and TRAIT application.
- Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.
- Work with a high degree of independence and manage daily schedule.
- Maintain a high level of productivity and work within or close to standard repair times.
- Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary for repairs.
- Communicate with management and support teams to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss RO findings.
- Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health, and environmental policies and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
- Maintain the company-issued service truck, conduct safety checks, and daily pre-/post-trip inspections.
- High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
- Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.
- Must be able to complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
- Current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical. If four months or less remain, a DOT physical will be required.
- Candidates must be at least 21 years old due to interstate operating authority regulations.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain a Driver Qualification File.
