Truck Driver - Hiker​/Vehicle Transporter​/CDL - Part Time

Position Summary

Penske Truck Leasing seeks highly motivated and qualified applicants to fill the unique position of Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver). This position is responsible for vehicle delivery and returning vehicles to Penske locations and Penske customers. Primarily, this position moves our box trucks up to 26’ and for CDL Class A will include tractors and trailer movement. The position may also provide assistance to the service department to deliver parts and equipment.

This is a casual/on-call part-time truck driving position suitable for licensed CDL Class B or CDL Class A drivers seeking supplemental income, working from 0 to 25 hours per week based on business needs.

• Follow appropriate safety procedures while driving trucks to Penske locations or customer locations.
• Check vehicles to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order; report any issues to the location manager.
• Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
• Complete other projects and tasks assigned by the supervisor.

• 2 years of driving experience required.
• 2 years of a clean DMV motor vehicle record required.
• Valid Class B CDL required. Applicants must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in their state of residence.
• CDL Class A license preferred.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions.
• Ability to work independently, possess customer service, organizational skills, and a positive attitude.
• English language proficiency required to comply with federal law.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
• Drivers must maintain a current driver qualification file, including annual MVR checks, a completed DOT Physical, Safety Performance History records from prior employers within the last 3 years, and DOT drug screening within 30 days of starting.
• Willingness to travel as necessary, adhere to required schedule, comply with the specific location demands, complete employment application, background investigation, and drug screening.

Visual and auditory requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Tasks include frequent movement, standing, walking, sitting, using hands to touch, handle, feel, and reach. Associates must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs/23 kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs/45 kg.

Associates must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle and safely and frequently enter/exit the vehicle and rear cargo area.
