Position: ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF BIOLOGY
The Louisiana Scholars' College, the state's selective-admission honors college of the liberal arts and sciences, located at Northwestern State University of Louisiana, seeks applications from broadly trained individuals to fill a tenure-track position as an Assistant/ Associate Professor of Biology with an anticipated start date of either January 5, 2026 or August 10, 2026, depending on the successful candidate's availability.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have an earned Ph.D. in Biology or a related field. The

successful candidate will be able to teach introductory and advanced undergraduate

honors biology courses, as well as be able and willing to contribute to a team-taught

Core/Great Texts curriculum. Preference will be given to applicants with prior college-level teaching experience, experience directing student research, and experience in honors

education. The successful candidate will have demonstrated evidence of scholarly

achievement. Applicants should be committed to liberal arts education and willing to

interact with colleagues and students from other fields in the arts and sciences to maintain and improve an integrated, multidisciplinary honors curriculum

Job Concepts

Duties include teaching 12-15 contact hours per semester; holding 1O office hours per week; advising students as assigned; directing undergraduate theses as needed; maintaining a research agenda; developing curricula; and working on committees as assigned.
