We are seeking a highly motivated Assistant, Lab Operations to join our team in Natick, MA. This role

will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational functions of our passionate, dynamic, and growing team. The ideal candidate will provide leadership in lab and office management, including onsite materials and equipment management, EH&S procedures, shipping, and office and facilities coordination. They will deliver independent, professional, customer and team-focused, and efficient services in handling a wide range of lab and administrative-related tasks to support the smooth functioning of the lab.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all laboratory operations, ensuring a safe, organized, and efficient working environment.
  • Manage inventory of common lab and office supplies—including cell lines, chemicals, consumables, and equipment—ensuring adequate stock levels and accurate documentation.
  • Handle daily lab waste disposal in accordance with safety regulations and institutional guidelines, ensuring proper segregation, documentation, and coordination with waste management services.
  • Manage shipping and receiving of laboratory materials, including biological samples, reagents, and equipment, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and documentation requirements.
  • Act as the central liaison for lab communications, sharing key updates such as delivery schedules, facility maintenance, power outages, and other operational notices with internal teams and external partners.
  • Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve operational challenges, collaborating with team members to implement effective and sustainable solutions that support seamless lab operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, with a minimum of 2+ years of lab management experience, preferably in a biotech setting.
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented, with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven experience in managing lab equipment/vendors, including scheduling calibration, certifications, and maintenance activities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders and influence others.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure, with effective time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Proactive attitude and a problem-solving mindset, with a collaborative and team-oriented approach.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) for data analysis, reporting, and documentation purposes.
