Overview
Bacon Free Library – Natick, MA. The Town of Natick seeks an experienced and visionary Library Director to lead the Bacon Free Library (BFL) operations – a Town department operating the library on behalf of the BFL non-profit board. Established in 1880 and located in the heart of historic South Natick Center, the BFL is a small independent library located in a beautiful park-like setting overlooking the Charles River, surrounded by scenic grounds and gardens.
The BFL serves patrons of all ages, benefiting from the strong support of an active Friends organization and a dedicated non-profit Board. With the support of full and part-time staff, and volunteers, the Library Director reports directly to Town Administration, and is responsible for the overall administration and daily operations of the BFL as a department of the Town of Natick.
- Provide overall administration and daily operations of the Bacon Free Library as a department of the Town of Natick.
- Lead collection management, staff supervision, and coordination of adult programming.
- Maintain the BFL’s IT infrastructure, website, and social media presence; manage the library budget and financial records.
- Collaborate closely with the Morse Institute Library and the Minuteman Library Network, of which BFL is a member through the Morse.
- Master of Library Science (MLS) from an ALA-accredited program
- Experience in municipal library operations, preferably in a small library setting
- Demonstrated ability to manage overall library operations and build strong relationships with community partners and organizations
- Energetic, enthusiastic, and creative self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong commitment to customer service and community engagement
- Experience with or knowledge of Sierra ILS preferred
- Strong networking and collaboration skills
- Moderate physical effort required under typical library working conditions
The Town of Natick offers a competitive salary and a generous benefits package. This position is classified as Grade 3 on the Town s non-union personnel pay plan, with an anticipated hiring range of $66,000 - $80,000 commensurate with education and experience.
