Qualifications- Education: BA/BS degree
- Professional Certification: not required
- Specialized Knowledge: Child development; commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice
- Preferred Experience: Experience with children in a structured environment;
Yoga / Health Education;
Experience with Google Suite and Power School preferred, but training will be provided - Skills: Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed; bilingual skills in Spanish and Portuguese desirable; strong written and verbal communication; strong interpersonal; passionate working with students/families/colleagues; flexible, collaborative; multitasks in fast‑paced environment; organized to meet deadlines
- Alternatives to the above qualifications may be considered if compliant with state certification requirements.
- Phone, personal computer, scanner, copy machine, calculator, camera, printers, fax machine, and related software applications.
- Implement lesson plans and instructions as directed by the absent teacher, or consult with the principal if a lesson plan is not provided.
- Maintain a clean, respectful, and orderly classroom; follow classroom and school procedures.
- Leave notes or complete a report for the regular teacher at the end of the teaching day.
- Communicate collegially and positively with parents, students, and administrators.
- Keep records on attendance, accidents, and incidents.
- Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Ensure students’ safety at all times.
- Supervise students inside and outside the classroom.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
The following are representative of the work environment and physical demands:
- Move about the classroom, school, school grounds, office, and off‑site locations.
- Remain in a stationary position for periods of time.
- Operate computer and other office productivity machinery.
- Read material from computer monitor and printed matter.
- Position oneself to maintain files and access materials.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff in person or via video/phone/write.
- Observe details at close range.
- Ensure safety of students.
- Multitask and meet multiple demands.
- May need to support students with life skills such as eating, cleaning, toileting.
- Lift up to 25 lbs.
- Noise level moderate to loud.
- Formal application.
- Rating of education and experience.
- Oral interviews.
- Reference check.
- Strong record of work performance.
- Criminal, sexual offender, and fingerprint checks.
