Profile of a Natick Educator

JOB GOAL:
The School Psychologist is a member of the student services team who provides assessment, consultation, intervention, and counseling services for students in his/her/their caseload.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Masters' Degree

Professional Certification: DESE License as a School Psychologist

Specialized Knowledge:

* Child/adolescent development

* Social-emotional learning

* Demonstration of competency in the theory, administration, and interpretation of recognized standardized instruments.

* Best practices in individual and small group prevention and counseling practices

* IEP regulations

* Understanding of and commitment to the principles and practices of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice as they relate to student engagement and success

Preferred Experience:

* Experience working with children in the relevant age group

* Experience working in a diverse public school setting preferred

* Experience with testing, report writing, and sharing information with families

* Experience with individual and small group service delivery

Skills:

* Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed

* Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish and Portuguese, are highly desirable

* Excellent written communication skills

* Outstanding oral communication and interpersonal skills

* Strong work ethic and attention to detail

* An unrelenting focus on student success, safety and accountability

* Ability to efficiently write comprehensive and informative reports that contain appropriate educational goals.

* Candidates should have a passion for working with students, families, and colleagues.

* Candidates must be flexible and collaborative.

* Candidates must be able to multitask in a fast-paced, supportive environment that nurtures student growth.

* Candidates must be organized and able to meet ongoing, time-sensitive deadlines for work production.

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and in conformity with state certification requirements.

* Phone, intercom, personal computer and software applications, scanner, copy machine, calculator, camera, printers and fax machine.

The essential duties and responsibilities, include, but are not limited to:

* Provides psychological and educational evaluations in a timely manner

* Participates actively in Individualized Educational Planning Meetings in order to produce comprehensive and appropriate educational plans for students being evaluated

* Provides teachers and other professionals with consultation services which will assist them in helping each student reach his/her potential in the least restrictive educational environment

* Conducts classroom screening to assist teachers in planning effective educational strategies for all students.

* Provides prevention and counseling services as needed, both individually and in small groups.
