Qualifications- Education: Bachelor's Degree;
Masters degree preferred - Professional Certification: Massachusetts DESE certification 9‑12 in Social Studies/History; SEI Endorsement
- Specialized Knowledge:
- Strong foundation in student‑centered pedagogy
- Knowledge of the developmental needs of adolescents
- Strong content‑area knowledge
- Thorough understanding of theories and teaching methodologies along with comprehensive understanding of the academic, social, and emotional needs of high school students
- Working knowledge of the Massachusetts Standards‑Based curriculum
- Working knowledge of the principles of UDL
- Working knowledge of SEL instruction and supports
- Thorough understanding of and commitment to the principles and practices of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice as they relate to student, staff, and community engagement and cultivation
- Preferred Experience:
- Experience teaching in a diverse public school
- Experience working with students with disabilities/special abilities
- Experience working with students who are English language learners
- Experience with Google Suite and Power School; training will be provided
- Skills:
- Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed
- Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish and Portuguese, are highly desirable
- Passion for working with students, families, and colleagues
- Flexibility and collaboration
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; ability to share information and resources; strong written communication skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced, supportive environment that nurtures student growth

- Organizes and uses a variety of teaching techniques, strategies, materials, and technology to maximize the learning of each child, individually and in group settings
- Assesses student progress, provides students and parents with specific feedback, and uses results to adjust instruction as needed

- Takes responsibility for teaching the district learning expectations as outlined in the curriculum documents
