The Natick Public Schools seek a Social Studies Teacher for High School. This role will educate students in a diverse environment with high standards and employ a strengths-based approach.

• Education:
  
  Bachelor's Degree
• Masters degree preferred
• Massachusetts DESE certification 9-12 in Social Studies or related field
• SEI Endorsement
• Strong foundation in student-centered pedagogy
• Knowledge of adolescent developmental needs
• Strong content-area knowledge
• Understanding of theories, methodologies, academic, social, emotional needs
• Working knowledge of Massachusetts Standards-Based curriculum, UDL principles, SEL instruction and supports
• Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice

• Teaching experience in diverse public schools
• Experience with students with disabilities/special abilities
• Experience with ELL students
• Experience with Google Suite and Power School

• Demonstrated aptitude for instructional work
• High verbal and written communication skills
• Organized, able to meet deadlines
• Flexible, collaborative
• Multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Bilingual skills, especially Spanish and Portuguese (highly desirable)

• Prepare long and short-term lesson plans
• Hold high expectations and facilitate learning
• Use varied teaching techniques, materials, technology
• Assess student progress and adjust instruction
• Provide academic support and challenge
• Teach district learning expectations from curriculum documents
• Link subject knowledge to other disciplines and life experiences
• Stay current in the subject area
• Maintain a safe, orderly, community classroom environment

• Move around classroom, school grounds, and off-site locations
• Stay stationary for periods
• Operate computer and related equipment
• Read from monitor and printed material
• Communicate effectively in person, video, phone, writing
• Observe details, ensure student safety
• Multitask and meet demands from multiple stakeholders
• Teach and support life skills development
• Lift up to 25 lbs
