JOB GOAL:
Supports the Site Supervisor in overseeing the daily operation of one before school (Early Risers) and after school (ASAP) site, a creative, community service-oriented environment. The Assistant Site Supervisor also manages the homework session and supervises high school tutor/mentors. In the absence of the Site Supervisor, the Assistant Supervisor will take on responsibility for the operation of the after school site.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field strongly preferred.
Preferred Experience:
- Four years or more of experience working with youth in an organized setting. Six months of administrative experience or three credits in management, administration, or staff supervision.
- Ability to lead large groups, communicate effectively with families and school personnel, and supervise staff.
Skills:
- Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
- Phone, intercom, radios, personal computer, scanner, copy machine, calculator, camera, printers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB (not limited to)
- Work with Supervisor to confirm arrival of all students each day; initiate Missing Child Procedure if a child does not arrive; and ensure that all children are signed out by an authorized parent/guardian at pick-up.
- Know or ensure that appropriate staff know the whereabouts of all children in assigned groups at all times.
- Be familiar with which children have epi-pens, food allergies, or other health concerns. Know and follow all health care/emergency procedures. Document all injuries and incidents.
- Be aware of students with IEPs, 504 plans, or experiencing difficulty at home or at school, with the goal of differentiating our services when possible to increase student success across all environments.
- Oversee staff daily to ensure that proper procedures are being followed. Work with Site Supervisor to support staff in managing challenging behaviors.
- Mediate conflicts between students as well as staff members in a cooperative, respectful manner.
- Assist with and oversee staff in the following tasks:
- Set up and put away equipment (outside and inside).
- Clean activity and storage spaces; leave all areas clean and free of trash/debris.
- Preparation, and clean-up of daily activities.
- Support Supervisor in developing a monthly activity calendar and planning special events.
- Plan and lead a variety of educational, recreation, and enrichment activities.
- Maintain positive relationships with school personnel with the goals of effectively sharing space; sharing information about children that will increase their success both in school and ASAP; and fostering an increased school and community awareness of the value of the ASAP program to children, families, and schools.
- Interact daily with families to develop and maintain successful after school-home-school communication.
- Participate in the hiring process through interviews and on-site candidate observations.
- Provide orientation to new staff and ongoing feedback and training to all classroom staff throughout the year.
