The Natick Public Schools music department is looking to add to our staff of after‑school music teachers to teach saxophone, clarinet, or woodwinds generally for grades 4–12.

Job Goal: The ideal candidate will prepare and inspire students in an innovative, inclusive environment, developing their technical and musical skills while supporting the district’s mission of equity and excellence.

• Identify concepts and methods that advance playing for beginners through advanced students
• Implement technical lessons that correspond to the standards being taught in band classes
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
• Teach in class, small group, duo, and private lessons
• Employ methods that motivate students
• Have strong classroom management skills
• Be able to work independently
• Prepare upper‑level students for recitals
• Be positive, encouraging, and foster a love of music
• Maintain high expectations for performance

Schedule and workload TBD based on interest. Elementary lessons are generally between 11 AM and 1 PM, and middle school and high school after 2:00 PM. There is some flexibility to create an individualized schedule.

• Move about classrooms, schools, school grounds, office, and/or off‑site locations
• Potentially move quickly across uneven surfaces
• Remain stationary for periods of time
• Operate a computer and other school/office productivity machinery (e.g., iPad, copy machine, printer)
• Read material from a computer monitor and printed matter with or without visual aids
• Position oneself to access files and materials
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with students, parents, and staff in person, via video conference, telephone, and/or writing
• Observe details at close range
• Ensure safety of students in the school setting
• Multitask and meet demands from multiple people
• Teach and support students with life‑skills development such as eating, cleaning, and toileting
• Lift up to 25 lbs
• Accommodate moderate to loud ambient noise
