Systems Administrator / Configuration Management Design Team Role Overview
Busek is seeking a Systems Administrator / Configuration Management professional to support the Design Team by owning and maintaining the engineering data environment. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, IT infrastructure, and configuration discipline. It is not traditional corporate IT — the focus is on enabling engineers to design, release, revise, and track hardware efficiently and correctly.
This individual will work closely with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers to manage CAD data, design documentation, and configuration baselines while helping establish scalable, lightweight processes appropriate for a fast-moving R&D environment.
Key Responsibilities- Administer and maintain engineering data systems supporting the design lifecycle
- CAD files, drawings, analyses, models, revisions
- Own configuration management fundamentals for design hardware
- Version control, baselines, change control, releases
- Manage and support PLM / PDM tools
- Solid Works PDM, Windchill, Teamcenter, or similar
- Support engineering workflows from design through release and change
- Design → review → release → ECO/ECR
- Partner directly with engineers to solve practical workflow problems
- Enable speed and accuracy without unnecessary bureaucracy
- Maintain and process discipline
- ECOs, ECRs, release procedures, data integrity
- Help ensure systems and data practices align with export control requirements
- ITAR / EAR compliance
- Experience managing engineering data and systems
- CAD files, drawings, analysis data, revisions
- Solid understanding of Configuration Management (CM) principles
- Version control, baselines, change control
- Hands‑on experience with PLM / PDM tools
- Solid Works PDM, Windchill, Teamcenter, or similar
- Strong understanding of engineering design workflows
- Ability to work closely with engineers in a hands‑on, practical manner
- Strong documentation and process discipline
- U.S. Person status (required for ITAR/EAR compliance)
- Experience in aerospace, space, or defense environments
- Exposure to systems engineering concepts
- Requirements, traceability
- Background in IT systems administration
- Servers, permissions, backups, access control
- Cybersecurity or compliance awareness
- NIST, CMMC (particularly relevant at Busek)
- Scripting or automation experience
- Power Shell, Python
- Experience supporting small, fast-moving design teams
- Prior role combining IT support and engineering configuration management
