OverviewWe are seeking a Senior Associate for our Thermal Sciences Practice in Natick, MA. In this role, you will perform failure analysis and provide design support for complex problems involving fluid flow, heat transfer, mass transport, combustion, and electrochemistry. Applications will primarily be in vehicles, consumer electronics, utilities, fire and explosion investigation, power generation, medical devices, and many other sectors.
Responsibilities- Develop and execute laboratory test programs, including developing test plans and instrumenting equipment.
- Perform engineering calculations and analyses to support design and failure investigations.
- Prepare proposals and technical reports, and present findings to internal stakeholders and clients.
- Travel may be required within and outside the United States.
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Fire Protection Engineering.
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. with no required immigration sponsorship.
- Strong technical background in thermal sciences and battery systems (e.g., vent gas and fire propagation, combustion, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and material response in fire).
- At least 3 years of relevant industry experience; experience in technical consulting is a plus.
- Experience in the design and analysis of thermal systems/processes in a professional or post‑doctoral setting.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong laboratory skills, including construction of experimental apparatus, instrumentation, data acquisition, and data analysis.
- Ability and desire to tackle a wide variety of engineering problems beyond immediate specialization.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or willingness to obtain a PE.

Compensation & BenefitsBase salary will be commensurate with experience and capabilities. Compensation includes base salary, bi‑weekly performance bonuses for high‑intensity efforts, an annual bonus, and a 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.
