Vehicle Engineer, ADAS/AV (MS/PhD)
Location:
Natick, MA, United States
- Perform technical analyses of accidents involving roadway users, including cars, commercial vehicles, public transportation, two‑wheeled vehicles, and pedestrians.
- Apply understanding of ADAS technology to transportation accidents.
- Support consulting projects involving analysis and testing of ADAS, safety assessments of AVs, and accident reconstruction.
- Leverage vehicle‑ and component‑level testing at Exponent's world‑class test facilities to refine or demonstrate technical analyses.
- Pursue cutting‑edge research to address pressing technical issues facing vehicle transportation, accident analysis, and ADAS performance and evaluation.
- Conduct field investigations of accident vehicles and locations.
- Use state‑of‑the‑art tools and techniques (3D laser scanners, drones, photogrammetry, vehicle dynamics simulation, etc.) to perform accident reconstruction.
- Communicate results in technical reports, presentations, and testimony to diverse audiences.
- Manage projects from initiation to completion, ensuring deadlines are met and work quality is exceptional.
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Presently legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship required.
- Knowledge of automotive systems and hands‑on automotive experience (e.g., Baja SAE, Formula SAE, Eco Car, automotive mechanic roles, coursework, shop experience).
- Knowledge of dynamics, mechanical design, and strong analytical/problem‑solving skills.
- Research and/or industry experience in ADAS, AVs, and/or automotive testing.
- Field and/or laboratory measurement experience.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, able to synthesize technical information for specialists and non‑specialists.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or willingness to obtain a P.E. license.
- Clear written communication and technical writing skills.
- Proven dedication to quality and accuracy.
- Versatile, team‑oriented, willing to work overtime and travel for project work or conferences when required.
- Technical computer skills (3D CAD and/or technical programming).
- Ambitious with a desire to develop professional skills, attend conferences, and remain at the forefront of the technical field.
USD $ – $ per year, depending on experience and capabilities.
