Managing Fire Protection Engineer – Thermal Sciences Practice
Locations:
Atlanta, GA;
Chicago, IL;
Warrenville, IL;
Menlo Park, CA;
Los Angeles, CA;
Natick, MA.
- Perform outstanding technical work for clients, including:
- National, state, and local fire and building code reviews
- Analysis of active and passive fire protection systems
- Laboratory experimental design, construction, and coordination of testing
- Fire and explosion investigations, including hands‑on field experience
- Work in teams on complex interdisciplinary problems, often with tight deadlines
- Manage multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with experts in other technical disciplines
- Identify and pursue business development opportunities
- Project manage and build client relationships
- Prepare proposals and technical reports, and present findings to clients
- M.S., M.Eng., M.E., or Ph.D. in Fire Protection Engineering
- Presently legally authorized to work in the United States (no immigration sponsorship or processing required)
- Professional Engineering License (PE) strongly preferred
- Strong technical background in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and combustion
- Minimum of 5 years of industry experience in Fire Protection Engineering
- Business development experience with a proven track record and ability to attract new and/or repeat clients or funding
- Demonstrated leadership skills, proven ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment, and strong mentorship skills with technical staff
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Strong desire and ability to tackle a wide variety of problems within and outside direct area of expertise
- Prior experience with prescriptive and/or performance‑based analysis and application of codes and standards (NFPA, ICC, ASTM, UL, etc.)
- Hands‑on experience in fire protection system design, installation, inspection, testing, and maintenance preferred
Base salary, annual bonus, and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary at the Manager level and above. The base salary range for this position is dependent on experience and capabilities and will be assessed during the interview process.
