Senior Managing Scientist - Biomechanics (Ph.D.)
Philadelphia, PA or Natick, MA.
Responsibilities- Work as part of a team to help clients solve challenging technical problems that are urgent, high profile, and multi-disciplinary.
- Manage and develop new and existing client relationships and identify business development opportunities.
- Manage projects from initiation to completion with effective cost‑control measures.
- Create and use analytical tools, synthesize technical biomechanical issues involving kinematics, dynamics, physiology, and data analytics (e.g., AI/ML).
- Write proposals to initiate and/or support opportunities in human performance, health, wellness technology, consumer products, digital health, and related areas.
- Design and execute human experiments to quantify and interpret health, wellness, and performance characteristics within naturalistic movement environments.
- Conduct safety assessments pertaining to injury potential associated with use or misuse of consumer, medical, and industrial products.
- Use state‑of‑the‑art analytical approaches to inform real‑world technology and/or consumer product insights, as well as optimal technology integration strategies.
- Assist in research, publish reports and papers in technical journals, and present findings at meetings and conferences.
- Recruit and develop junior staff.
- Identify and perform original research that furthers knowledge in biomechanics.
- Actively participate in the Biomechanics Practice and assist in marketing the group’s technical capabilities to clients and the scientific community.
- Ph.D. in Biomechanics, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Kinesiology, Movement Science, Physical Therapy, or a related field.
- 7+ years of post‑graduate experience.
- Existing client base, proven business‑development and client‑management track record and ability to attract projects to support full‑time staff.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Experience evaluating cutting‑edge technologies related to human performance, health, and wellness.
- Proficiency in computational programming (Python, MATLAB) with emphasis on algorithm design, signal processing, and backend analytics modeling.
- Demonstrated study design and statistical analysis experience.
- Success in independently developing and managing client relationships.
- Outstanding reputation for integrity, responsiveness, and technical expertise.
- Targeted business‑development plan for specific clients/sectors.
- Ability to attract projects and manage a motivated team.
- Prior litigation‑consulting experience is a plus.
Base salary range: USD $ – $ per year, plus annual bonus and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.
