Position: Civil Engineer.
  • Develop and review engineering designs and the preparation of contract documents, which consist of plans, specifications and construction cost estimates.
  • Manage project through contract and completion.
  • Coordinate designs of proposed changes of specifications of buildings, systems and structures with staff and senior professional engineers of other engineering disciplines.
  • Develop criteria for civil engineering features to be used by architectural-engineering firms in preparing designs.
  • Serve as Project Manager, provides construction oversight and quality assurance for civil engineering related projects.
  • Responsible for the technical accuracy and adequacy of construction and maintenance projects within the facilities – $750,000/2,000,000 approval authority.
  • Design civil, sanitary engineering and structural systems and facilities, such as buildings, walls, roads, storm drain and sanitary sewer systems, houses and training facilities.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Required to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, (5

    CFR Part 2634, Subpart I Confidential Financial Disclosure Reports) upon entering the position and annually.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.

Basic Requirement For Civil Engineer Position:

  • Degree:
    Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET);

OR

  • include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil…
