Management Trainee - Truck Distributor

Position Overview

The Management Trainee is an early career leadership development role designed for individuals with a college degree and a background in sales or marketing who want to build a long‑term career in the heavy-duty truck industry. This program provides hands‑on experience in the Parts Department, followed by a transition into Parts Marketing, where the trainee will support growth initiatives, customer engagement, and brand development.

The trainee will learn dealership operations, inventory management, customer service, vendor relations, and marketing strategy while contributing to a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

• Learn all aspects of parts counter operations, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and inventory control.
• Support counter staff in identifying, sourcing, and delivering parts to internal and external customers.
• Develop strong product knowledge of OEM and aftermarket heavy-duty truck parts.
• Assist with cycle counts, returns, warranty processing, and vendor program compliance.
• Provide exceptional customer service through accurate information, timely communication, and problem‑solving.
• Observe and participate in daily workflow, shop support, and cross‑department collaboration.

• Support the development and execution of marketing campaigns for parts sales, promotions, and seasonal programs.
• Analyze sales data, customer segments, and buying patterns to identify growth opportunities.
• Assist with digital marketing efforts, including email campaigns, social media, and website updates.
• Create marketing materials such as flyers, product spotlights, and customer outreach content.
• Coordinate with vendors on coop programs, product launches, and promotional events.
• Participate in customer visits, fleet outreach, and relationship‑building activities.

• Participate in structured training, coaching, and performance check‑ins with department leaders.
• Strong computing skills, including analytics.
• Demonstrate initiative, curiosity, and a willingness to learn all aspects of dealership operations.
• Build strong relationships across Parts, Service, Sales, and Administration.

• Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field preferred).
• 1–3 years of experience in sales, marketing, customer service, or related roles.
• Strong communication, analytical, and relationship‑building skills.
• Interest in the heavy‑truck industry and dealership operations.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with CRM or marketing tools a plus.
