About the Role:
The Camp Director for Summer is responsible for overseeing the overall operations and management of the summer camp program, ensuring a safe, engaging, and enriching environment for all campers. This role involves planning and implementing a diverse range of activities that promote personal growth, teamwork, and fun among participants. The Camp Director will lead a team of counselors and staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high-quality programming and camper satisfaction.
Additionally, the Camp Director will communicate effectively with parents and guardians, addressing any concerns and providing updates on their children's experiences. Ultimately, the success of the camp program hinges on the Camp Director's ability to foster a positive atmosphere that encourages exploration, learning, and community building.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Previous experience in camp management or a similar leadership role.
- Current certification in First Aid and CPR.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with children and youth in a camp or educational setting.
- Knowledge of outdoor education and recreational activities.
- Familiarity with risk management and safety protocols in a camp environment.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee day to day running of camp location.
- Organize and transport supplies for program daily.
- Assist supervisors in planning and implementing activities.
- Complete OSHA log book daily as needed.
- Provide inventory/supply list to Recreation office.
- Run errands as needed for program.
- Facilitate and supervise all aspects of field trips i.e. permission slips, waivers, paperwork, money, and communication during field trips.
- Oversee daily recordkeeping.
- Deal with on-site staff issues, including scheduling and contract violations.
- Provide information and assistance to parents.
- Responsible for maintaining discipline among campers. Provides direction as needed.
- Contact parents regarding medical or discipline issues.
- Assure weekly newsletter is completed and passed out to families.
- Turn in paperwork to Recreation office daily as needed.
- Turn in and maintains accurate timesheets every Friday afternoon.
- Stay with campers until picked up at end of day.
- Enthusiastically and attentively lead, support and motivate campers as they enjoy group activities and events.
- Report to Recreation office.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive summer camp program that meets the needs and interests of campers.
- Supervise and train camp staff, ensuring they are equipped to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
- Manage daily operations, including scheduling activities, overseeing camper safety, and maintaining camp facilities.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians, providing updates and addressing any concerns regarding their children's participation.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of camp programs and make necessary adjustments to enhance the overall camper experience.

Excellent communication skills are vital for interacting with campers, parents, and staff, ensuring that everyone is informed and engaged.
