JOB SUMMARY:The NPS Elementary Principal is responsible for assisting the building principal in leading the school team and engaging the community in a shared mission to ensure that all students become the Vision of the Graduate. The assistant principal will support the principal to create, implement and continuously improve systems that cultivate a collaborative and innovative learning culture thatis relentlessly focusedon the growth and happiness of every student, teacher, and leader.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Under the direction of and in coordination with the building principal:
-The assistant principal embraces a learner-centered approach and inspires innovation and ongoing improvement of programs and services to achieve equitable outcomes foreach and everylearner.
- Secures, deploys and marshals resources necessary to accomplish equitable outcomes for all learners.
-Leads a culture where inquiry, risk-taking, and collaborative problem solving are embraced. Demands a shared belief that all students can exceed our expectations.
- Builds the capacity of all staff through high quality professional learning experiences
- Supervises and evaluates staff members.
- Shares the district's vision and responsibility for creating a comprehensive competency-based curriculum.
- Ensures a continuum of opportunities for both academic and social/emotional growth as well as intervention and support strategies.
- Identifies,hires and grows a faculty and staff with a shared commitment to engage, empower and inspire every student in every class every day.
- Serves as a model learner; continually seeking to improve his/her own leadership practice.
-Develops a comprehensive strategic plan that articulates the actions and accountability processes that will ensure that every student is becoming the Vision of the Graduate.
- Prepares various reports concerning building programs and staff.
- Maintains all student records and transcripts.
-Prepares annual school budget for instructional and other school areas, and ensures that fundsare spentaccording to proper fiscal procedures.
- Develops the school's master schedule.
- Performs additional duties, where appropriate, which are assigned within the scope of employment and certification.
- Connecticut Certification Endorsement 092 – Intermediate Administrator is required.
- Demonstrated experience in grade K-12 curriculum and instruction.
- Minimumof three years teaching experience.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and personal characteristics for working effectively with students, teachers, administrators and parents.
- Ability to implement data-driven decision-making in school improvement initiatives.
- Prior instructional leadership experience is preferred.
- Prior experience at the posted school level is preferred.
