Position: Registered Nurse (RN) New Naugatuck, Connecticut

Location: Naugatuck, CT

Hours: M-F 7:30a-1:30p

Compensation: $46,000 – $53,000 annually

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides health care treatment to injured or sick students and staff
  • Serves as a member of the school team as the designated health professional (attends PPTs as needed)
  • Maintains records according to Connecticut state requirements and internal procedures & policies (e.g., Therap)
  • Oversees compliance with state mandated physical examinations and immunization requirements
  • Coordinates the administration of prescribed medications and treatments for students
  • Trains designated staff in medication administration according to state regulations
  • Develops individual health care plans for students as needed
  • Per state regulations, performs vision, hearing and postural screenings
  • Serves as a resource for school staff and students with regards to health care issues and disease prevention
  • Document student visits to the nursing office and communicate follow-up needs to families and school team
  • In addition to duties in Naugatuck, this role will require travel once a month to our Stamford, CT and Trumbull, CT academies for nursing audits.
  • Ensure compliance with state regulations and internal procedures & practices related to nursing care, medication storage and administration at Aspire Living & Learning Academy campuses (Naugatuck, Trumbull, and Stamford).
  • Provide program oversight, training and audits for nursing care and medication administration in Naugatuck, Trumbull, and Stamford locations.
  • Cultivate a positive and productive workplace atmosphere to enhance team morale and productivity.
  • Conduct training as required and assigned.
  • Perform any additional job responsibilities assigned by supervisors or team leaders to support the organization's smooth operation.
Qualifications:
  • Current, valid RN license
  • Experience working with children in a special education setting preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of nursing care and medication administration regulations; ability to identify training needs and develop and deliver appropriate training based on needs; ability to conduct medication and nursing audits; excellent training skills
  • Must have satisfactory background checks
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
Working Conditions:
  • Ability to handle physical aspects of job, including bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and walking for periods of time
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
  • Must be able to perform all physical management techniques required for position
