The RN (Nurse) Emergency Care role involves providing advanced patient assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of emergency medical care in an acute care hospital setting. The position requires leadership skills to manage patient care activities, coordinate with interdisciplinary teams, and assist the Nurse Manager in clinical and staff development. Candidates must be licensed registered nurses with at least two years of acute care experience and demonstrate strong interpersonal and leadership abilities.

- Demonstrates advanced skill in assessment of health care needs.
- Demonstrates advanced skills in interviewing, observing and collecting healthcare data, performing a systems assessment and identifying patient support systems on admission according to hospital policy.
- Demonstrates advanced skill in planning for patient health care needs.
- Initiates Interdisciplinary Plan of Care (IPOC) utilizing information from initial assessment and guidelines for nursing care according to hospital policy.
- Demonstrates advanced skills in implementation of care to meet patient care needs.
- Prioritizes patient care based on assessments.
- Demonstrates advanced skill in evaluating care delivered.
- Assesses patient responses to healthcare interventions based on expected outcomes.
- Documents outcomes appropriately, accurately, and consistently.
- Actively assists Nurse Manager with monthly/weekly documentation reviews.
- Demonstrates advanced leadership skills.
- Displays advanced knowledge and proficiency in the delivery of patient care and serves as a resource for staff.
- Works collaboratively with the Nurse Manager to provide leadership in management, clinical practice, performance improvement, and staff development in accordance with the overall philosophy and goals of Patient Care Services.
- If the Nurse Manager is absent, assumes responsibility for patient care direction, unit operations, and staff functions.
- Other duties may be assigned.

QualificationsEducation: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Baccalaureate education – nursing major preferred. Degreed ANM must earn 10 contact hours annually. Non‑degreed ANM must complete 6 credit hours towards a bachelor's degree and 6 contact hours annually.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting preferred.
Licensure: Licensed and currently registered nurse in the State of Connecticut. All newly hired Registered Nurses must have a current BCLS certification or obtain one within one month of hire.

Demonstrated leadership abilities; demonstrated interpersonal skills.
Requires prolonged standing, walking, use of sight, hearing and touch; moving/lifting patients of varying weights.
Additional InformationMinimum of 2 years of intraoperative RN experience required. Leadership experience preferred.
