Position Responsibilities
  • Maintain a smooth flow of operations in an assigned area by organizing resources (materials and operators), start-up activities and workflow to ensure safety, quality and operational goals are met daily.
  • May perform same work assignments as the team with responsibility for goals and training.
  • Assist with changeovers and line flushes; oversee downtime clean-up activities.
  • Perform material handling duties within the department and contact production supply to replenish materials to meet operational schedule.
  • Aim to achieve production standards and report to supervisor re: downtime, production levels, and reallocation of work.
  • Audit work areas per SOP to ensure procedural compliance, product conformance to specifications, and accurate documentation.
  • Verify accuracy of all raw materials at the work area per BOM/DPR and operator work assignments.
  • Startup equipment and adjust line speeds on the assigned line.
  • Perform quality inspections and document results; ensure departmental inspections are performed with appropriate records.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and take on additional responsibility as needed.
  • Provide on-the-job training to new and temporary associates on basic tasks (safety, quality, productivity) for all positions within the assigned line.
  • Participate in startup continuous improvement meetings (CIP) and assist in problem resolution activities.
  • Continually evaluate workflows for improvements and maximize communication within the department and between shifts.
  • Follow all safety procedures; ensure safety start-ups are completed at the beginning of the shift, machine guards, chemical storage/handling, signage, etc., are in place and functioning prior to release of equipment for production.
  • Wear required PPE; sustain 6S standards through housekeeping and standard work.
  • Utilize LEAN thinking in formal and informal settings, participate in LEAN events, submit suggestions, attend LEAN training, and improve work cells/areas of responsibility.
  • Use visual tools and display boards and update them as appropriate; document all changes from LEAN activities according to ISO guidelines.
  • Accept and embrace change necessary for continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge and

    Experience:

    English fluency (written and verbal) with ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and written procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment to meet deadlines; excellent verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated teamwork with diverse groups.
  • Basic math and problem-solving abilities; knowledge of safety procedures for lockout/tagout, machine guarding and applicable OSHA standards.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office) with ability to learn computer systems; familiarity with rework and inventory control procedures.
  • Flexibility and dependability to meet operational demands of a 24-hour operation.
  • Prior manufacturing/distribution experience required with two years in the department for in-depth product knowledge.
  • Education:

    High School Diploma or equivalent required.
