Job Summary
Assistant Clerk Senior (Open)
Supreme Court – Agency 5, Chadron, NE.
Hiring Rate: $20.28 per hour. Applications close on 03-06-2026.
LocationDawes County Courthouse, Chadron – 12th Judicial District.
Responsibilities- Schedule court hearings, enter new case filings, and prepare and distribute dockets for court sessions.
- Perform cashiering duties, including processing payments (fines, fees) and balancing daily deposits.
- Enter and update case records, ensuring completeness and accuracy of related documentation.
- Prepare and submit routine documents, reports, and specialized financial reports, invoices, and budgets.
- Assist the public and staff by answering general questions regarding court operations.
- Support clerical staff by assigning and monitoring work, providing direction, and serving as a lead.
- Travel to other counties for office or courtroom coverage as needed.
- Perform bailiff duties during jury trials and act as liaison between jurors and the judge.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) and 3 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties.

- Modern office procedures, methods, and equipment
- Basic principles and practices in the assigned area of responsibility

- Providing customer service and maintaining records and files
- Prioritizing and assigning work to subordinate staff
- Processing information using established procedures
- Using modern office equipment and computer applications
- Preparing reports, forms, and spreadsheets
- Assembling and organizing data and information
- Using proper English, grammar, punctuation, and spelling
- Communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with coworkers, supervisors and the public
Primarily sedentary; may require some light physical effort not to exceed 20 lbs.
SalaryDuring probation: $42,178.47 annually. Minimum rate after probation: $43,232.95 annually.
