Graphic Designer

Wayne State College is seeking a Graphic Designer within the School of Arts and Humanities. Start date will be on or after June 1, 2026.

Graphic Designer

• Creates original designs, executes artwork and/or writes feature stories for print publications and the website.
• Conceptualizes design layout of finished art and text for reproduction and coordinates final production of finished product with printing department.
• May oversee the bidding and award process for project needs.
• Design posters, postcards, programs, brochures, and promotional materials.
• Compile and coordinate event schedules.
• Compose press releases.
• Attend and photograph events.
• Create advertisements and submit to vendors.
• Send mailings, maintain databases and plan events.
• Oversee a graphic design/public relations intern in Fall and Spring semesters.
• Assist faculty.
• Other duties as assigned by the Dean of School of Arts and Humanities.

Bachelor’s degree in art, commercial art, communications, or related field and at least one year experience.

• Superior written communication skills, including copy writing and editing.
• Exceptional project management skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Excellent graphic design skills.
• Proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat).
• Proficient in Microsoft Word.
• Knowledge of printing processes, including pre-pressing and color modes.
• Three years experience in a public relations/media environment.
