POSITION SUMMARY:

This position contributes to the fulfillment of Thayer County Health Services vision and mission by providing treatment to patients of all ages. As family practice physician, you will test, treat, diagnose, and monitor disorders and illnesses. You will perform exams and procedures, counsel and treat patients in a rural health clinic, emergency and inpatient settings.

SUPERVISION: Responsible to the Chief Operations Officer

SHIFT: Exempt

Salary: $350k base salary with exceptional earning potential exceeding $500k

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Board Certified or board eligible.
• Current DEA license.
• ACLS and ATLS certified.
• Proficient at patient charting and knowledgeable in relevant charting computer programs.
• Able to effectively monitor and manage other medical staff and assistants.
• Compassionate and personable with an exemplary bedside manner.
• Sound judgment and expert decision‑making abilities.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Interview new patients to assess their symptoms, needs, or problems; record and utilize their medical history for diagnosis.
• Perform wellness exams.
• Conduct follow‑ups with patients to monitor and track their condition.
• Counsel patients on preventative medicine practices.
• Monitor and treat patients for conditions within expertise and scope of practice.
• Order and analyze necessary tests, screenings, biopsies, scans, etc. to effectively diagnose a problem.
• Direct, advise, and supervise medical staff including nurses, physician assistants, advanced practice nurses, medical assistants etc. on proper procedures and protocol.
• Continue personal education on current medical practices and innovations by reading medical journals, completing CMEs, attending conferences, etc.
• Attends required meetings and participates on committees as requested.
• Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
• Performs other duties as needed by the facility.
