Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Basic Functions & Responsibilities- Work collaboratively with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements, including Response to Intervention, Language Proficiency Assessment Committee, Section 504 Committee, Admission, Review and Dismissal Committee meetings.
- Develop and deliver lessons per Texas Education Agency guidelines and district policies that accommodate diverse learning styles.
- Use instructional and learning strategies, materials, and equipment appropriate for student needs.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Use effective communication to present information accurately and clearly.
- Utilize instructional technology to strengthen teaching/learning.
- Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
- Support campus and department improvement plans.
- Provide instruction in accordance with Bastrop ISD approved curriculum and required resources.
- Create a conducive classroom environment.
- Implement multi-tiered systems of support including Positive Behavioral Intervention Systems, Restorative Practices, Trauma‑Informed Practices, and Social Emotional Learning.
- Monitor and report student progress per district guidelines.
- Take precautions to protect students, materials, and facilities.
- Resolve parent/student issues in a timely manner.
- Model positive behavior.
- Manage student behavior per Student Code of Conduct and handbook.
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding progress using district protocols.
- Develop and submit lesson plans and substitute plans using district templates.
- Submit grades per district grading policy.
- Collaborate with district staff to serve all student groups.
- Assist in monitoring campus safety.
- Attend campus events and extracurricular activities.
- Assist in selection of instructional materials.
- Compile and submit required reports, records, and documents.
- Plan and supervise volunteer assignments when applicable.
- Follow district and department policies and procedures.
- Support campus and district mission and vision.
- Analyze needs and collaborate to improve programs.
- Participate in professional development aligned with campus and program needs.
- Attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Analyze data to address student needs.
- Administer state‑mandated testing per guidelines.
- Review campus test data and use findings for corrective action.
- Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community.
- Conduct conferences and open communication with stakeholders.
- Interface with agencies, businesses, civic organizations to promote district initiatives.
- Participate in team building and decision‑making processes.
- Collaborate with staff to enhance service delivery, program development, and satisfaction.
- Comply with federal and state laws, board policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- $51,500 (DOI Degreed not in ACP)
- $49,000 (DOI Non‑Degreed with 90+ hours)
- $45,000 (DOI Non‑Degreed with 60‑89 hours)
Until certification is complete. DOI teachers must fulfill the district DOI plan expectations each year.
