Assistant Professor, Asian American Studies (with emphasis in Asian American or Pacific Islander/Native Pacific Studies)

PositionTenure‐track Assistant Professor, appointment to begin Fall 2026 (advanced rank includes up to two years of service credit).
Responsibilities- Develop and teach introductory and core courses in Asian American studies and ethnic studies, and courses in your area(s) of specialization.
- Produce scholarship or creative work appropriate for a tenure‑track faculty position.
- Advise graduate and undergraduate students.
- Serve on departmental and university‑wide committees.
- Engage in community outreach and broader disciplinary activities.
- Ph.D. in ethnic studies or a related field with an emphasis in Asian American or Pacific Islander/Native Pacific studies, by the time of appointment.
- Ability to teach a wide range of Asian American studies and ethnic studies courses.
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching.
- Strong record of scholarly or creative accomplishments appropriate to the level of appointment.
- Commitment to service at the department, university, professional, and community levels.
- Experience working collaboratively with colleagues.
- Ability to balance teaching, scholarship/creative activity, and service.
- Commitment to working effectively with students from intersecting marginalized social groups.
- Emphases in history, cultural studies, colonialism, empire, war, queer of color theories, women of color feminist theories, diaspora, and/or community and social movements.
- Interdisciplinary, intersectional, and/or comparative approaches.
- Evidence of effective use of diverse instructional methods and learning modalities.
- Evidence of successful scholarly/creative works and publications.
- Evidence of engagement with student co‑curricular activities and Asian American or Pacific Islander/Native Pacific communities.
Monthly salary range: $6,221 to $13,224 (12 monthly payments per academic year). Anticipated hiring range: $7,465 to $7,608 per month. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
