Special Education - Part-Time Lecturer Pool

Position Overview

Part‑time Lecturer in the Department of Special Education at CSU Fullerton. Candidates will join a pool of lecturers to be called upon to teach courses within the Education Specialist Credential and/or Special Education master’s programs. Appointments are temporary and may be made just prior to the start of an academic term. Applicants must be available on short notice.

• Teach courses in the Education Specialist Credential and/or Special Education master’s program.
• Develop and deliver curriculum that is student‑centered, inclusive, and aligned with California education standards.
• Support the academic development of teacher candidates and new teachers through mentorship and instruction.
• Utilize technology to facilitate learning and communication with candidates.
• Participate in departmental meetings, performance evaluations, and curriculum reviews as required.

• Current or expired clear Education Specialist Credential with 3 years’ experience OR 3 years’ equivalent experience working with birth‑to‑22 youth in diverse settings.
• Demonstrated commitment to just, equitable, and inclusive education.
• Knowledge of California public schooling context, including the California adopted birth‑to‑22 content standards, frameworks, and accountability systems.
• Knowledgeable of Teacher Performance Expectations (TPE) and able to support candidate development pertaining to the TPEs and Teacher Preparation Activities (TPAs).
• Knowledge of diversity in society, including diverse abilities, culture, language, ethnicity, and gender orientation.
• Demonstrated ability to work with students from intersecting historically marginalized social groups using innovative instructional approaches and methods.
• Committed to ongoing professional development and effective use of technology.
• Ability to use current technologies to effectively communicate and share documents with candidates and mentor teachers.
• Note:
  
  Clinical coaches without a master’s degree are not eligible to teach any prerequisite or credential courses in the program. They may only supervise students in field placements.

• Master’s Degree in special education or a closely related field.
• Experience with anti‑racist teaching and social justice pedagogies.
• Plurilingual experience or experience working with plurilingual students.
• Experience supporting teachers, teacher candidates, and/or new teachers.
• Active involvement in subject‑matter professional organizations.

Classification range: $5,507 – $6,677 per month. Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $6,221 per month. Typical starting compensation for a three‑unit assignment ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester.
