Civil and Environmental Engineering – Part-Time Lecturer Pool

Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, CSU Fullerton, invites applications for its Part-Time Lecturer Pool.

We seek individuals passionate about teaching and sharing practical experience through graduate and undergraduate courses in all areas of Civil Engineering.

This part‑time lecturer pool is used as needed. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available. Appointments from the pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants must be available on short notice.

• A Master's degree in Civil Engineering and at least 2 years of work experience in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Documented excellent preparation in Civil Engineering along with current industry experience.
• Proficiency in online teaching strategies.
• Prior university‑level teaching experience.
• Ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse student population, including first‑generation college students.

• A Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or related field.
• A Professional Engineer license or other appropriate certification to teach design courses.
• Significant teaching experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.
• Relevant professional work experience and demonstration of professional capabilities.

Part‑time faculty are most needed in the Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid‑December; the Spring term runs from mid‑January through the end of May. On rare occasions, part‑time faculty may be needed during one of the Summer Session segments.

Regular performance evaluations of part‑time lecturers are made by the department in accordance with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. These evaluations determine which lecturers are retained for future and continued teaching assignments and may include review of syllabi, assignments, and reading material by the departmental personnel committee.

All part‑time faculty are appointed as Lecturers under the CSU Collective Bargaining Agreement. Initial appointments are for one semester only.

Classification range: $5,507 – $6,677 per month. The anticipated hiring range depends on qualifications, but does not exceed $6,221 per month. For a three‑unit assignment, typical starting compensation ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester.
