Communications - Part-Time Lecturer Pool

The Department of Communications invites experienced, well‑organized, and student‑centered individuals to teach courses in the following subject areas as required:

• Advertising
• Entertainment and Tourism Communications
• Journalism
• Public Relations

Appointments are temporary and often made just prior to the academic term; applicants must be available on very short notice. Teachers will develop syllabi, deliver instruction, participate in regular performance evaluations, and contribute to an inclusive learning environment.

• Master’s degree in Communications or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated ability to teach successfully at the university level.
• Demonstrated ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse student population.
• Coursework, prior teaching experience, or professional experience in the particular course topics.

• Significant teaching experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.
• Relevant professional work experience in the specific course topics.

All part‑time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers under the terms of the CSU system Collective Bargaining Agreement. Initial appointments are for one semester only, with a classification range of $5,507 – $6,677 per month. For a three‑unit assignment, typical starting compensation ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester.

• This position requires compliance with the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act; the holder is a mandated reporter under CSU Executive Order 1083.

• A satisfactory background check is required. Continued employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background screening as required under CSU policy.

• Out‑of‑state employment is prohibited; CSU is a California‑based entity and requires employment within the state.
