The Career Center within the Division of Student Affairs strives to engage the CSUF student body to actively prepare for their future by providing guidance, sharing resources, connecting with employers, and instilling confidence. We facilitate student success in an inclusive and competitive global society. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Career Specialist.
Salary Range: $5,540 - $5,670 per month
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Bachelor's degree or the equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field including or supplemented by upper division or graduate coursework in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution plus three years of professional student services work in the field. A master's degree in counseling, clinical psychology, social work, or a related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience.
A doctoral degree in a related field and the appropriate internship or clinical training may be substituted for three years of required experience. Other qualifications:
Ability to plan, develop, coordinate, supervise, and organize programs and activities; interact with diverse student populations, faculty, staff, and the public; analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action; advise students individually and in groups on complex matters; complete assignments without detailed instructions; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships; possess excellent verbal and written communication skills; and acquire knowledge of campus procedures and organization.
Master’s degree in counseling, management, education, human resources, or a related field; individual and group counseling skills applicable to college students; familiarity with job search techniques, including creative strategies, interviewing skills, and resume/cover letter preparation; general understanding of the graduate and professional school preparation process; ability to relate effectively to a broad range of ethnicities and backgrounds; knowledge of methods and techniques to facilitate student outreach activities;
ability to work independently under minimal supervision; experience with assessments such as MBTI, Strong Interest Inventory, and Strengths acceptable.
