Position Overview
Wayne State College is seeking a Head Men's and Women's Rugby Coach. The men’s program competes in the College Rugby Association of America (CRAA) Division 1AA Heart of America conference. The women’s program competes in the National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) Division 3 Prairie States conference.
Responsibilities- Provide leadership, supervision, and administration of the men’s and women’s rugby programs that are consistent with the objectives and mission of the total athletic program at Wayne State College.
- Organize and facilitate all practices, contest preparations, and off-season training.
- Support the academic success of the student athletes.
- Maintain a student‑athlete retention rate as established by the department.
- Administer the rugby programs within the policies of Wayne State College, the Nebraska State College System, and the affiliated national governing associations.
- Develop and maintain a successful recruiting system while maintaining a high level of visibility within Wayne State College’s service region.
- Coordinate travel, lodging and meal considerations for away contests.
- Enforce discipline and positive sportsmanship behavior.
- Evaluate and review the program and recommend changes and improvements to the Associate Athletic Director.
- Maintain and inventory all equipment and uniforms.
- Responsible for fundraising activities for the programs and assist with department‑wide fundraising opportunities.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree and at least two years of coaching at the college or club level.
- Previous experience playing collegiate rugby.
- Knowledge of NCR and CRAA rules and regulations.
Ability to demonstrate practice drills. Acceptable background, credit, DMV check and driver’s license required.
Salary and BenefitsAnnual salary range is $55,000–$63,000, competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Attractive and comprehensive benefit package.
