Graduate Assistant (Housing and Residence Life)

Job Title: Graduate Assistant (Housing and Residence Life)
Nature of WorkGraduate Assistants are hired to assist in meeting the vision and goals established for CSC. Strategic deployment of graduate assistant positions is essential to ensure that limited resources are utilized in a manner consistent with the philosophy of CSC. Graduate assistants provide experiential learning in select areas and assist the individual in a successful transition to future educational and professional opportunities.
Responsibilities- Assist with resident advisor training each semester
- Implement a pre-determined number of programs for the student body
- Assist in coordinating Residence Life programming efforts
- Promote and advertise Residence Life programs
- Assist with security of Residence Hall buildings
- Report maintenance needs for the residence hall in which you reside
- Facilitate resolutions to peer conflict in the residence halls
- Involve in the residence life judicial process when necessary
- Support the Assistant and Associate Director positions in programming efforts
- Manage and monitor social media accounts
- Assist in the management of Residence Life Association storage areas
- Gather student feedback and suggestions for programming and residence hall improvements
- Complete assigned office hours
- Complete building rounds as assigned
- Limited on-call responsibilities in the absence of an Assistant Director of Residence Life
- Assist the Associate Director(s) with budget management and documentation
- Understand, explain, and enforce policies as listed in the Student handbook, housing contract, and staff manuals
- Attend weekly staff meetings
- Participate in campus committees as assigned by supervisor
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Completed Bachelor’s degree
- Conditionally accepted or accepted application to CSC graduate program
- Ability to work and live on the Chadron State College main campus
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous residence life experience
- Experience with community development, administration, and working with college students
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
Salary Information: $5,760 per semester plus tuition waiver (student fees not included). Room & Board Waiver.
