Spanish - Part-Time Lecturer Pool
The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part‑Time Lecturer Pool in Spanish to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Spanish language, Hispanic literatures and cultures, and/or Hispanic linguistics.
Areas of Specialization- Spanish language (introductory to advanced)
- Hispanic literatures and cultures (both Peninsular and Latin America)
- Hispanic linguistics
- For 400‑ and 500‑level courses:
Ph.D. in Hispanic literatures and cultures, Hispanic linguistics, or a related field, and native or near‑native fluency in Spanish. - For 300‑level courses: at least a Ph.D. candidate (ABD) in Hispanic literatures and cultures, Hispanic linguistics, or a related field, and native or near‑native fluency in Spanish.
- For 100‑ and 200‑level language courses: terminal M.A. degree in Hispanic literatures and cultures, Hispanic linguistics, or a related field.
- Ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first‑generation college students.
- Legal right to work in the United States of America; this position does not sponsor visas.
- Must reside in the State of California at the time of hiring.
- Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and evidence of strong teaching.
- Experience working with diverse populations and fostering an inclusive environment.
- Relevant professional work experience and additional capabilities.

Appointment and SalaryAll part‑time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers under the CSU Collective Bargaining Agreement. Initial appointments are for one semester only. The monthly base salary ranges from $5,507 to $6,677, prorated to the number of units worked and paid in six installments per semester. Typical compensation for a three‑unit assignment ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester.
Appointment Date and Academic CalendarPart‑time faculty are most needed in the Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid‑December; the Spring term runs from mid‑January to the end of May. On rare occasions, part‑time faculty may be required during Summer Session segments.
Performance EvaluationRegular performance evaluations are conducted in accordance with the university policy. These evaluations determine which lecturers will be retained for future teaching assignments and may include review of syllabi, assignments, and reading materials by the departmental personnel committee.
