Asian American Studies - Part-Time Lecturer Pool

The Department of Asian American Studies at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part‑Time Lecturer Pool. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available. Appointments from the pool are temporary, often made just prior to the start of the academic term, and require availability on very short notice.

Required Qualifications
  • ABD doctoral candidate or master’s degree with substantial graduate coursework in Asian American Studies, ethnic studies, or related fields
  • Expertise in fields relevant to the department’s curriculum
  • Evidence of prior relevant teaching, mentoring, or tutoring experience
  • Evidence of experience in the relevant academic field or related professional/community‑based experience
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and work effectively with a wide, culturally diverse range of students, including first‑generation college students
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment

Appointment and Salary

All part‑time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers under the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Initial appointments are for one semester only. Base salary ranges from $5,507 to $6,677 per month, prorated to units worked and paid in six monthly payments per full semester. Typical compensation for a three‑unit assignment ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester.

Appointment Dates and Academic Calendar

The need for part‑time faculty is greatest in the Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term runs from late August through mid‑December; the Spring term runs from mid‑January through the end of May. Part‑time faculty may also be needed during certain Summer Session segments.

Performance Evaluation

Regular evaluations are conducted in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement and university policy. These evaluations determine future retention and assignment decisions.

Employment Policies

The position holder is a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act. This role also requires an annual background clearance as required by CSU policy.
