Wayne State College is seeking a Graduate Assistant for the Athletic Facilities and Operations department. A total (maximum) of 800 hours of work is required for this Graduate Assistantship. Typically, twenty-five (25) hours of work will be assigned per week by your supervisor during the Academic Year. The special appointment provides a stipend of $12,300.00 for the academic year and a graduate tuition waiver available for up to 18 credit hours per academic year including the immediately following summer session.
All fees will be the responsibility of the student regardless of online or on-campus. Tuition remissions awarded for online courses will not exceed the comparable amount provided for an on-campus course for a resident student.
This is an appointment with the opportunity of renewal after the first year.

Graduate Assistants are hired at Wayne State College to assist in meeting the vision and goals established for WSC. Strategic deployment of graduate assistant positions is essential to ensure that limited resources are utilized in a manner consistent with the philosophy of WSC. Graduate assistants provide experiential learning in select areas and to assist the individual in a successful transition to future educational and professional opportunities.
Examplesof Work Performed
- Responsible for continuous facility upkeep across all athletic and recreation spaces.
- Assist with athletic and recreation event management, including gameday setup, teardown, and security.
- Supervision of non-WSC events held in the athletic and recreational facilities.
- Assist in hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating student employees.
- Schedule recreational activities, practices, and events.
- Coordinate equipment checkout, reservations, and inventory for various athletic and recreational items.
- Utilize athletic and recreation programming apps and streaming services for event and program operations.
- Provide leadership to club sports teams, ensuring compliance with college policies and risk management procedures.
- Collaborate with athletic and recreation department staff to achieve departmental goals.
- Make satisfactory progress on degree program and maintain good academic standing (GPA > 3.0).
- Perform other duties as assigned.

. - Ability to work with and meet deadlines along with working nights and weekends.
- CPR /First Aid/ AED required or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of employment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Experience in sport (event) management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to lift 50lbs.
- Work shifts include afternoon, evening, and weekend hours.
