Position Summary Information

General Description of Position
- The Diesel Technology Truck Adjunct Instructor is responsible for instructing students in various Diesel Technology courses (as needed), developing, and updating the courses taught in a classroom/laboratory environment, and coordinating the cooperative education. Teaching assignments for this position include but are not limited to, theory, testing, diagnosing, and service procedures on current Heavy Duty Truck vehicles. This position is also responsible for the maintenance of lab equipment, completing production orders, advising students, and working with program and college committees.

This is a part-time temporary position.

Essential Functions
- Provide Student Instruction in Program Courses as Assigned Provide instruction to a diverse student population in the Diesel Truck Technology Program in safety, hazard communication standard/hazard chemical right to know, theory, testing, diagnosing, and service procedures that include, but are not limited to, Shop safety,electrical and electronics, basic power trains, manual transmissions,starting and charging systems, basic fuel systems, diesel emissions and basic theory of diesel engine overhaul.

Develop new courses and update existing courses as required to keep the Diesel Technology Truck Program current with industry standards and processes. New course development includes writing course objectives, developing syllabi, developing handouts and tests. Also updating of existing courses to ensure that the course is current with industry standards. To Maintain and Upgrade the Diesel Truck Technology Program Classroom and Laboratory Instructional Facilities and Equipment Responsible for maintenance of all instructional facilities and equipment and to insure that it is maintained in a safe and proper working order for student use.

Complete and Maintain Program and Student Records Responsible for maintaining permanent student records on courses taught, and following and enforcing college policies regarding attendance policy, grading policy, and student achievement. Completing production orders on all production projects and maintaining inventory record of all program equipment is required.

Maintain Technical Competency in Teaching Area Required to stay technically competent in all areas of teaching responsibilities by attendingASEPresource development training,ASEPfaculty development programs.

Participate in College and Program Activities and Committees Will attend, participate, and support all program activities (i.e. Advisory committee meeting, Open House, division meetings. And college activities and committees as required.

Will Act as a Student and Technical Advisor for theASEPProgram

Will advise and help register students for correct courses, advise students on academic standing, support and explain college policies and procedures to students, and complete all records, forms, etc. as necessary for proper student articulation and program operation.

Perform other College and Program Duties as Assigned Perform other college and program related duties as assigned. This will include, but not be limited to, substitute teaching as required, developing budgets, advising Program Director as requested, supporting and promoting the college and theASEPprogram, supporting student recruitment, assist in the security of all college and program materials and equipment, and assist in supervising student help.

Individualized Development Plan (New Instructors) Each new instructor will develop an individualized development plan in cooperation with the Vice President of Instruction. Professional Development Faculty should work with their immediate supervisor to develop an annual plan of professional development and improvement.
