Position Summary Information

General Description of Position
- The Adjunct Instructor, John Deere Ag Tech is responsible for instructing students in various John Deere Ag Tech courses (as needed), developing and updating the courses taught in a classroom/laboratory environment, and may also include coordination of the cooperative education. Teaching assignments for this position include but are not limited to, theory, testing, diagnosing, and service procedures on current John Deere Ag and Turf equipment.

This position is also responsible for the maintenance of lab equipment, advising students, and working with program and college committees. This is a part-time temporary position.

Essential Functions
- Provide student instruction in program courses as assigned. Provide instruction to a diverse student population in the John Deere Tech program on basic to advanced systems and diagnosis, may also include Safety Hazard Communication Standard, Hazard Communication Right to Know, theory, testing, diagnosis, and service procedures that include, but not limited to, John Deere Fundamentals;
John Deere Heating/Air Conditioning;
John Deere Electrical/Electronic Systems & Components;
John Deere Engines;
John Deere Hydraulic/Hydrostatic Systems & Components;
John Deere Power Train Systems & Components;
John Deere Diesel & Gasoline Fuel Systems & Components;
John Deere Seeding & Planting, Harvesting, Tillage and Precision Agriculture Equipment. Develop new courses and update existing courses as required to keep the John Deere Tech program current with industry standards and processes. New course development includes writing course objectives: develop syllabi: developing handouts, lab sheets, tests and researching John Deere training manuals, tech manuals, operation and test manuals, and repair manuals to insure that the course is current.

Maintain and upgrade the John Deere Tech program classroom/laboratory instructional facilities and equipment. Responsible for maintenance of all instructional facilities and equipment and to insure that it is maintained in a safe and proper working order for student use. Complete and maintain program and student records. Responsible for maintaining permanent student records on courses taught, and following and enforcing college policies regarding attendance policy, grading policy, and student achievement.

Maintain inventory records of all program and John Deere training equipment for the assigned laboratory areas. Maintain technical competency in teaching area. Required to stay technically competent in all areas of teaching responsibilities. These requirements include: attending John Deere systems schools, John Deere new products introductions, John Deere Training Center classes for his/her teaching category, attend teaching technique courses and participate in John Deere product certification and path finder programs to meet minimum program standards required by John Deere Company and Southeast Community College.

Participate in college and Transportation Division activities and committees. Will attend, participate and support all program activities (i.e. advisory committee meetings, division meetings, John Deere Tech sponsoring dealer meetings, John Deere Tech Graduation recognition dinners, etc., and college activities and committees as required including recruiting visitation with John Deere dealerships at their local high schools.)
