The Department of History invites applications for its Part‑Time Lecturer Pool. Qualified applicants will be contacted as positions become available. Pool appointments are temporary, often made just before the start of the term, and require availability on short notice.
Teaching ResponsibilitiesTeach at the university level in the following subject areas:
- U.S. History
- History of Science
- Ph.D. degree in History or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Prior university‑level teaching experience.
- Demonstrated ability to interact with a culturally diverse student body, including first‑generation college students.
- Experience working with diverse populations and fostering inclusive environments.
- Relevant professional experience and additional qualifications that enhance teaching capabilities.
Before official hire:
Initial appointments are one semester. Classification range: $5,507 – $6,677 per month. Starting compensation for a three‑unit assignment: $6,608.40 – $7,465.20 per semester.
Appointment Dates & CalendarNeed greatest in Fall and Spring semesters. Fall: late August to mid‑December. Spring: middle of January to end of May. Occasionally needed during Summer Sessions.
Performance EvaluationRegular evaluations conducted per Collective Bargaining Agreement and University policy. Evaluations determine future retention.
