Assistant Professor in Experimental Physical Chemistry
Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, California State University, Fullerton. Tenure‑track position, appointment beginning Fall 2027.
Position OverviewThe successful candidate will teach and mentor a diverse student body, establish an experimental physical chemistry research program involving undergraduate and master’s students, and provide department, college, and university service. New faculty receive start‑up funds, research lab space, and a reduced teaching load for the first two years.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate and graduate lecture and laboratory courses in physical chemistry.
- Develop and maintain an independent research program that engages undergraduate and master’s students, produces peer‑reviewed publications with CSUF student co‑authors, and secures external funding.
- Mentor students, advise them on academic and professional development, and serve on departmental and institutional committees.
- Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities that support the mission of the School of Shared Purpose.
- Ph.D. in chemistry or a closely related field with relevant postdoctoral experience at the time of appointment.
- Strong commitment to effective teaching, using student‑centered pedagogy, active learning, and inquiry‑based approaches.
- Demonstrated research productivity in experimental physical chemistry or a closely related discipline.
- Ability to develop and sustain an independent, funded research program that engages undergraduates and master’s students, resulting in publications with CSUF student co‑authors.
- Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to mentor an ethnically and culturally diverse campus population.
