The Department of Kinesiology at California State University, Fullerton seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor in Motor Control and Motor Learning. Preference will be given to scholars with expertise in balance, postural control, neuromotor function, and fall prevention in aging populations. The successful candidate will teach introductory and advanced courses, conduct research, and contribute to departmental service.

Responsibilities
  • Teach introductory and upper‑level courses in Motor Control and Motor Learning (e.g., Human Motor Control and Learning, Motor Control and Movement Dysfunction, Physical Activity and the Aging Process, Functional Performance Assessment and Programming for Older Adults, Advanced Study in Human Motor Control and Learning).
  • Develop and deliver high‑quality curricula, including course materials, assessments, and learning outcomes.
  • Produce scholarship or creative work commensurate with tenure requirements.
  • Advise undergraduate and graduate students, serve on departmental and university committees, and participate in broader academic communities.
Required Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Neuroscience, or a related field by the time of appointment.
  • Strong foundation or training in Motor Control and/or Motor Learning theories and research techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability or potential to provide high‑quality undergraduate and graduate education.
  • Demonstrated ability or potential to work with a diverse student population, including first‑generation college students.
  • Record of scholarship in the scholar’s area of specialization.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in teaching, scholarship, and service.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Expertise in balance and postural control, fall prevention, or neuromotor rehabilitation, especially in aging populations.
  • Demonstrated ability or potential to secure external funding.
  • Experience with interdisciplinary collaboration across kinesiology, aging science, gerontology, physical therapy, or public health.
  • Familiarity or experience with high‑impact teaching practices such as service‑learning or community‑based learning.

Compensation

Assistant Professor salary range: $6,221 to $13,224 monthly (12 monthly payments per academic year). Anticipated hiring range: $6,803 to $6,939 monthly ($81,636 to $83,268 annually). Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
