Job Description

Responsible for the installation, operation and maintenance of all natural gas liquid processing plants or facilities with significant complexity above typical maintenance operations as determined by the department. Primary responsibilities also include the installation, operation and maintenance of all gas/liquid pipeline, pump and compression related facilities. A Mechanic at this level should be able to work alone safely and accomplish routine covered tasks with oversight from a qualified employee.

• Operate compressors, engines, auxiliary units, turbines, motors, cooling equipment, pumps, seals, valves and related equipment.
• Monitor and control process variables, such as pressure, temperature and flow rates to efficiently achieve desired operating results.
• Start, stop and operate engines/pumps and other equipment to maintain designated operating parameters.
• Assist in planning and performance of maintenance and repairs on compressors, engines, turbines, auxiliary equipment, pumps, process controls, and related equipment.
• Ensure cost effective and efficient performance of all gas and liquid processing units and associated equipment.
• Monitor quality of product to ensure meeting specifications and take appropriate actions when out of specification product is identified.
• Monitor or directly transfer product to above or below ground storage and through the pipeline system.
• Communicate with company control centers, business groups and other operating groups as necessary.
• Communicate with shippers concerning product movement.
• Responsible for general upkeep and maintenance of all facilities and equipment as needed.
• Oversee construction, maintenance and/or security activities performed by third parties.
• Identify, report and correct safety and environmental concerns.
• Represent the Company during contacts with landowner/tenants and public officials/emergency officials.
• Perform all work in compliance with company standards, procedures, and regulatory and tariff requirements.
• Be available to work a rotating shift.
• Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork.
• Actively participate in safety and security program and initiatives.
• Participate in development of O&M Procedures, Site Specific Procedures, project scopes and work plans.
• Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence.

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Or 2 years of relevant experience

• Level 2 requires at least six months to one year at Level 1 or equivalent skills and experience.
• Demonstrate safe work practices, gas and liquid hydrocarbons handling techniques, completion of OSHA PSM Operator certification if applicable, application of appropriate O&M Procedures, completion of any site‑specific technical training (e.g., TPC courses, locally developed training program), and qualify under the PHMSA OQ rule.
• Knowledge of compressor or pump station, gathering field and processing plant operations.
• Knowledge of gas and liquid processing theories and fundamentals.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, P&IDs and other diagrams.
• Detailed knowledge of company policies, procedures and practices as well as regulatory and tariff requirements.
• Detailed knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids and high/low pressure systems.
• Experience or familiarity analysing, adjusting and making minor repairs on compressor engines, pumps and other associated equipment.
