Job Description

Responsible for the installation, operation, and maintenance of all natural gas liquid processing plants or facilities with significant complexity above typical maintenance operations as determined by the department. Primary responsibilities also include installing, operating, and maintaining all gas/liquid pipelines, terminals, pumps, and compression‑related facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Operate compressors, engines, auxiliary units, turbines, motors, cooling equipment, pumps, seals, valves, and related equipment.
  • Monitor and control process variables such as pressure, temperature, and flow rates to efficiently achieve desired operating results.
  • Start, stop, and operate engines/pumps and other equipment to maintain designated operating parameters.
  • Assist in the planning and performance of maintenance and repairs on compressors, engines, turbines, auxiliary equipment, pumps, process controls, and related equipment.
  • Ensure the cost‑effective and efficient performance of all gas and liquid processing units and associated equipment.
  • Monitor product quality to ensure meeting specifications and take appropriate actions when out of specification product is identified.
  • Monitor or directly transfer product to above or below ground storage and through the pipeline system.
  • Communicate with company control centers, business groups, and other operating groups as necessary.
  • Communicate with shippers concerning product movement.
  • Responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of all facilities and equipment as needed.
  • Oversee construction, maintenance, and/or security activities performed by third parties.
  • Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.
  • Represent the Company in contact with landowners/tenants and public officials/emergency officials.
  • Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, regulatory and tariff requirements.
  • Be available to work a rotating shift.
  • Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork.
  • Actively participate in safety and security programs and initiatives.
  • Participate in developing O&M procedures, site‑specific procedures, project scopes, and work plans.
  • Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence.
  • Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism.
  • Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills and listening carefully.
  • Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and consistently high performance.
  • Work non‑traditional hours as needed, assisting operations and weekend callout rotations.
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, safety of company assets and employees, and general public safety.
  • Other daily, weekly, monthly, or special project duties as identified and defined.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    High school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of two (2) years of direct work experience may be considered a substitute for a degree/certification.
  • Experience & Knowledge:
    Knowledge of compressor or pump station, gathering field and processing plant operations; gas and liquid processing theories and fundamentals; operating costs associated with the equipment in the area of responsibility.
  • Operator

    Qualifications:

    Willingness to achieve and maintain all OQ and progression requirements applicable to the job classification, including but not limited to gas detection/alarm system maintenance, compressor unit operations, corrosion monitoring, cathodic protection, customer meter installation, pipeline locating, damage prevention, leakage surveys, steel and plastic pipe installation, valve maintenance, and welding.
  • Computer

    Skills:

    Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Licenses &

    Certifications:

    May be required to obtain required certifications; valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Competencies:

    Strong mechanical aptitude, basic math skills, good verbal and written communication, strong customer focus, ability to perform essential and marginal functions, teamwork, direction following, detail orientation, multitasking, time management.
